Harold E. Hill, 69, Russiaville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at his home. He was born in Lafayette on Jan. 1, 1943, to Wilfred and Lucille (Doyle) Hill.
He attended Western High School and owned and operated Hill’s Body Shop in Russiaville for many years. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from Oct. 11, 1966, until Oct. 10, 1969. He was a member of VFW Post 8035 and American Legion Post 6. He was also an avid Harley rider.
He is survived by his fiancee, Debra Barley, to whom he was married to in 1974. They later divorced, then rekindled their relationship last year after remaining friends for almost 25 years. His children are Caprice Hill, Kokomo, Sheryl (Joey) Simpson, Dallas, Texas, and Bryan (Christy) Hill, Kokomo; one brother, Robert (Deborah) Hill, Russiaville; grandchildren, Vivianne Pentland, Jakob Kuhns, Connor Simpson, Ciara Simpson, Steven Simpson, Gavin Hill and Logan Hill; sisters-in-law, Betty Hill, Sherill Hill and Sue Cardwell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Denny, Mike and Steve Hill; and one grandchild, Darien Bryann Hill.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Keith Treadway officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, where there will be military honors by the U.S. Army and Howard County Military Rites Team. He and his casket will be transported by motorcycle hearse to the cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
