Herbert L. Moore, 94, Kokomo, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born Jan. 17, 1919 in Howard County to Willard and Olive (Stout) Moore.
He graduated from Forest High School in 1937 and Berea College in 1947. He lived in Chicago and was a member of North Side Christian Church for over 50 years, serving in many positions. After moving to Kokomo in 2010 he attended Upper Deer Creek Church when possible. He enjoyed living at North Woods Commons and meeting many new friends.
Survivors include four sisters, Opal Wilcock, Pinellas Park, Fla., Mae May, North Aurora, Ill, Helen Merrell, Kokomo, and Dorothy Skiles, Kokomo; and one brother, Howard (Carmen) Moore, Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Olive Moore; one sister, Floe Rayl; four brothers, Doyle Moore, Don Moore, Kenneth Moore and Willard Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memory Gardens, with his great-nephew Grant Merrell officiating the service.
