Robert N. Hostetler, 80, Sharpsville, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born June 5, 1932, in Amboy to the late Roy E. and Doris W. (Lindley) Hostetler. Robert first married Betty Winningham. They later divorced. He then married Sharon Robertson. They later divorced, as well.
Robert graduated from Chili High School in 1946. He then joined the Unites States Air Force and proudly served during the Korean War. After his service in the military, he began working at Chrysler as a tool grinder.
Robert enjoyed fly fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and tinkering with machines. He enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and Local 685 Union Auto Workers.
Surviving are his son, Robert M. Howell, Outer Banks, N.C.; daughter, Marcia K. Foley, Alexandria, Md.; grandchildren, Jason Gillikin, Wilminging, N.C., Caleb Foley, Alexandria, Md.; stepson, Kevin Robertson, Lafayette; nieces and nephews, Gary Hostetler, Richard (Marcheta) Hostetler, Jerry (Debbie) Hostetler, Carol (Tom) Spangler, Brenda (Ralph) McLeod; and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene Hostetler, Roy Hostetler Jr., William Hostetler; former wife, Sharon Hostetler; stepdaughter, Kristy Mundy; and one nephew, Larry Hostetler. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial with military rites by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will follow at Rankin Cemetery, Miami County. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
