Richard Eugene Graft, 82, rural Bunker Hill, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2012, at his temporary residence, Caring Hands, Peru. Richard was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Miami County. On Oct. 14, 1951, at the home of the Rev. Tom Shively, he married Marilyn Sue Gerhart, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
He graduated from Clay Township High School in 1948. After serving two years in the U.S. Field Artillery, he returned to Miami County. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as the rural mail carrier in Bunker Hill for 32 years. He also farmed in Miami County.
Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bunker Hill, lifetime member of the Bunker Hill Fire Department, member of the American Legion, Shriners and Scottish Rite.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur L. Graft and Ada Irene Graft (Pier), and brother, Clarence “Jim” Graft.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Sue Graft; children, Colleen (Jerry) McDaniel, Pamela (Larry) Bulmer, and Karen (Michael) Scott; grandchildren, Nicolas Bulmer, Joseph Rosinski, David Scott, Megan Gima, Brandon Scott and Jenna Self; stepgrandchildren, Kristi Rabe, Kim Hubert and David Morrison; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriella, and Baby Boy Bulmer, Jaxson and Hudson Scott, and Raegan Gima; stepgreat-grandchildren, Madilyn and Max Humbert, and Derek Rabe; and sister, Norma Kraining.
Visitation for Richard Graft will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 136 S. Elm St., Bunker Hill, with Masonic services at 5 p.m. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Zehring officiating. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.
