William Glen Sutherin

July 5, 1937 - Nov. 1, 2012

Kokomo — William Glen Sutherin, 75, North Palm Beach, Fla., died after a short battle with esophageal cancer Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012. “Bill” was born July 5, 1937, in Kokomo to the late John and Marie (Powell) Sutherin.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; daughter, Cindy Molin (Stuart), San Diego, Calif.; son, William N. Sutherin, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; stepson, Thomas Wood (Lisa), Stuart, Fla.; and stepdaughter, Sheila DeHaven (Ben), Walton. In addition, he leaves behind 10 grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, sister-in-law, Nancy Hollingsworth (Dwight) and their family and many longtime friends.

His only brother, John Harold Sutherin, preceded him in death.

Bill attended Indiana University Kokomo and graduated in environmental health from IUPUI in 1975. He had been employed by the state of Indiana in public health before moving in 1984 to Florida, where he worked for the state of Florida in a similar position. He retired in 2005.

For many years, Bill was active in many community groups in Kokomo, such as the Kokomo Jaycees, Kokomo Symphonic Chorus, Kokomo Civic Theater, United Cerebral Palsy and the Howard County Republican Party.

His interests were many. He loved to attend auctions, he was responsible for bringing many celebrities to Howard County during the middle to late 1970s, and he enjoyed being a part-time professional musician, playing the bass and singing with Rick Carson and other musicians.

Bill will be remembered for his compassion for the handicapped, his willingness to volunteer, his faith in God, and his dry sense of humor. May he rest in peace.

Condolences may be sent to 907 Marina Drive, No. 408, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Fla.
