William R. ‘Barney’ Barnhart

May 16, 1941 - Oct. 23, 2012

William R. “Barney” Barnhart, 71, Greentown, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. Born May 16, 1941, he was the son of William R. Barnhart and Mary E. (Etchison) Barnhart. He was married for 43 years to Jean L. Barnhart, who survives.

He was retired from Chrysler Casting Plant in Kokomo. He enjoyed fishing and golf and ran his own TV repair shop after retiring from Chrysler. He served in the National Guard in Marion.

Surviving are his wife, Jean L. Barnhart, Greentown; son, Brad R. Barnhart, Greentown; daughter, Kathy R. and husband Bruce Ashpaugh, Cicero; son, Ryan L. and wife (Joan) Shrock, Galveston; granddaughter, Cheyanne Shrock, Galveston; sister, Connie Fernung, Summitville; brother, Gary (Becky) Barnhart, Summitville; and sister, Peggy Schaffer, Summitville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patricia Ferguson and Nancy Ladd.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with Pastor Chris Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Howard County Humane Society or Bona Vista Programs Inc.
