John J. Kazlas, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Dec. 11, 1934 in Doners Grove, Ill., the son of John and Antoinette (Giraitis) Kazlas. On Jan. 1, 1955, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walkerton, he married Nina Adams, who preceded him in death.
He was a 1954 graduate of Tyner High School, Tyner, and attended Ivy Tech in Kokomo. John retired from Delco Electronics in 1996.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator of the fourth degree. John was also a past scout leader of the Boy Scouts at Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
He is survived by son, John Kazlas and wife Laura; son, Timothy Kazlas; daughter, Amie Kazlas; daughter, Angela Cochran and husband David; son Steven Frick and wife Cathy; son, Joseph Kazlas and wife Janet; son, Brian Frick; grandson, David Kazlas; granddaughter Christina Kazlas; grandsons Blake Cochran, Richie Kazlas, Drew Frick, Taylor Frick and Bryce Cochran; granddaughter Kathryn Kazlas; grandsons TJ Gilbert and Derek Dreyer; great-granddaughter Ivy Deis; a sister, Alfie Norville and husband Allan; also a special family friend, Linda McClain.
Including his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Onita Kazlas; and a twin brother, Joseph John Kazlas.
A Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Church, 1229 N. Washington St. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. There will be a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
