Kenneth L. Ward

Oct. 24, 1928 — Nov. 14, 2012

Kenneth L. Ward, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at his residence. He was born Oct. 24, 1928 in Louisville, Ky. He is the son of the late Harry L. Ward and Mary Daniel (Reddicks) Ward. He married Marie E. Leonard Oct. 3, 1948 in Ashland, Ky., and she survives.

He worked at L&N Railroad in Louisville, Ky., Brock Electric in New Albany, Courier Journal Lithography in Louisville, Civil Service in Jeffersonville, was an Army Veteran serving at Ft. Knox, and also a Coast Guard veteran serving in Alaska. He then was an electrician with Delco Electronics for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He was former member of Beamer United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir, sang in quartets and did solos; served on the Pastor Parish Committee, Finance Committee, and was a trustee. He was a member of the Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church and a member of U.A.W. Local #292. He enjoyed listening to Christian music.

Survivors include his wife, Marie E. Ward, Kokomo; two sons, David Lee (Patty) Ward, Lantano, Texas, Jack E. (Christine) Ward, Newton, Mass.; two daughters, Linda Marie Schonbachler, Valparaiso, and Rosanne Faye (Dave) Klinker, Ft. Wayne; two sisters, Beverly Snapp, Jeffersonville, and Peggy Huff, Chillicothe, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; Amanda Ward Noday, John Ward, Justin Springer, Lindsey Springer, Mia Ward, Donielle Ward, Rachel Harvey, Rosalee Harvey, Ryan Harvey and Evan Dyer; five great-grandchildren, Kiley Jo Noday, Cash Noday, Emerson Springer, Gabriel Springer and Gavin Harvey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Ward; and sister, Doris Belke.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Pastors Kevin T. Miller and Joe Hogsett will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church or to the Gideons. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
