Jerry D. DeWitt

March 27, 1936 - Oct. 31, 2012

Kokomo — Jerry David DeWitt, 76, Tipton, died 5:48 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

He was born March 27, 1936, in Kokomo, the son of Garnet and Catherine (Finley) DeWitt. He married Betty A. (Yeary) DeWitt on Oct. 5, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Mich., and she survives.

He was a high school graduate, served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church of Tipton. He retired from Dana Corp. following 27 years of employment.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Timothy (Sandy) DeWitt, Windfall, Brentley (Susan) DeWitt, Anderson, and Gregory (Dawn) DeWitt, Windfall; two half-sisters, Judy (Johnny) Whittaker, Windfall, and Terri Tucker, Kokomo; special friends, Mike and Ava Ogden; seven grandchildren, Ashley and Micah Conrad, Andrea and David Sluka, Adam DeWitt, David DeWitt, Brett DeWitt, Wesley DeWitt and Maddie DeWitt; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou King.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home, 314 N. Main St., Tipton, with the Rev. Kevin Carr officiating. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
