Richard Guy Bitner

Nov. 18, 1942 - Oct. 9, 2012

Richard Guy Bitner, 69, Kempton, passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2012, at home with his family by his side. He was born in Kempton on Nov. 18, 1942, to Omer Guy and Josephine Bell (Harris) Bitner. On July 22, 1983, Richard married Dianne McCreadie, and she survives at home.

Richard was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Kempton and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965. He was a 30-year employee of the Chrysler Corp. in Kokomo before retiring in 1995. Richard had served as Kempton town marshal and was a reserve deputy for the Tipton County Sheriff Department. He had also served as an officer for the Emergency Management Agency of Tipton County, and bailiff for the Sharpsville Town Court.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Bitner; his children, Richard Bitner Jr. and wife Angie, Robert Bitner and wife Donna, Joe Bitner and wife Becky, Greg Bitner and wife Shelly, Shannon Bitner, Tammy Smith and husband Erick, Joy Clark, and Troy Hooker and wife Mandy; two sisters, Martha Moore and Carolyn Cardwell; grandchildren, Michael Bitner, Tiffany Bitner, Tammy Bitner, Kristen Bitner, Morgan Bitner, Molly Bitner, Lillian Bitner, Haley Bitner, Nathan Bitner, Ethan Bitner, Aron Evans, Tabatha Dougless Clark, Devon Woods Clark, Katie Frawley and husband Josh, Austin Hooker, Karleen Miller, Korrine Miller, Keaten Miller, Tara Millero, Trea Millero, Nickolas Millero, Zachary Stephens, Justin Bennett, Gracie Bennett and Emmy Bennett; a great-grandchild, Gemma Dougless; an aunt, Marjorie McCormack; a special nephew, David Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother and a grandchild.

The family would like to extend thanks to Guardian Angel Hospice of Kokomo for the wonderful care they provided Richard.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter Funeral Home, 726 E. North St., Tipton, with Pastor Ed Smith officiating. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place in Kempton Cemetery.

Fred was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Kokomo, to the late Emmett and Dorothy (Clark) Bagwell. He graduated from Kokomo High School.

    Christine “Granny” “Mother Goose” Cornelia Ligon, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Baron Plain, Tenn., the daughter of the late Tommy and Laura (Turner) King. On July 21, 1934, Christine married Timothy Calvin Ligon Jr. and they were happily married until his passing on Nov. 3, 1956.
