Robert Dennis Garrett, 80, Forest, died at 9:57 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. He was born July 1, 1929, in Fillmore, the son of Lewis and Anna Garrett. On Dec. 20, 1964, he married Carol Joan Miller, who survives.
Robert was a 1946 graduate of the Deaf School. He worked for Hollingsworth Saw Mill for 30 years and retired from Haynes Stellite after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Deaf Club and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed yard work, woodworking, riding his bike and his pets. Robert was a real people person and loved his family very much.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Chuck Garrett and his wife, Jamie, Washington, Ind., Cindy Sallee, Tipton, and Ted Garrett and his wife, Stacey, Kempton; grandchildren Heather Elliott, Sally Dent, Josh Hunter, Jessica Sallee, Shane Sallee, Caleb Garrett, Emily Williams and Dane Garrett; three great-grandchildren, plus two on the way; and one sister, Mary Higgins, Carmel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Forest. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
