Wilfred Tull

Jan. 28, 1926 - March 9, 2010

Wilfred Tull, 84, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Jan. 28, 1926, to Hazel and Levi Tull in Kokomo. On Dec. 16, 1950, he married his loving wife, Delores (Shaffer), and she survives.

“Wiff” was a longtime Kokomo resident and well-known local musician and piano technician. He was a member of the Kokomo Music Club, “Huggin Club,” past officer in the local musicians union, and 50-year life member of the local Moose Lodge. He loved his family, friends, music, fishing and the occasional card game (he always played with a marked deck).

Survivors include his son, Thomas Tull and wife Mitzi, Mont Belvieu, Texas; grandson, Jay Foster and wife Amber, also of Mont Belvieu, Texas; and great-granddaughter, Baylee Jay Foster, who pretty much goes wherever she wants. He was also very close to his sister, Ruby McLay, and aunt Jane Smith, both of Kokomo, who also survives. Sisters-in-law Mary Jane Cardwell, Connie Hinkle and Diane Shaffer also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ivelou Brownlee and Ruth Wright; and close friend and brother-in-law, Robert Shaffer of Appling, Ga.

“Uncle Wiff” loved all of his nieces and nephews and made each of them feel that they were his “favorite.” His loving nieces Carolyn and Ann were with him and Delores at the time of his passing, but all of them would have been if they could.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with the Rev. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service today at the mortuary.

You are invited to read Wilfred’s obituary at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you may sign the guest book, share a personal message or order flowers for the family. Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bechar and Staff and Jill Lancelle, Valerie May, and all of the people at Hospice Care.
