Marjorie E. Weatherly, 85, Kokomo, passed away 7:50 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at her residence. She was born April 25, 1924. She was married to Cleo Weatherly, who passed away in November 1997. Her first husband, Joseph Earl McBride, passed away in 1945.
She had previously worked for the General Telephone Company in Angola, at Dirilyte, and was the co-owner of the Markland Café with her husband Cleo “Stu” for many years before retiring in 1985. She attended Morning Star Church, was a member of the Kokomo Rose Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose and Eagles lodges. She loved baseball and was an avid Cubs and Reds fan.
She is survived by two sons, Robert L. McBride and wife Marchetta, Logansport, Thomas E. McBride and family, Kokomo, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Ruth Duguid, Pleasant Lake; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. and Chloe Gaetz, Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Friends may visit with the family noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum.
