Wilma Louise Bowlby

Wilma Louise Bowlby, 78, Tipton, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in Tipton Hospital. She was born Nov. 3, 1934, to Otis and Clodah (Vair) Underwood. She was married Feb. 20, 1955, in Methodist Church in Sharpsville to Myron D. Bowlby, who died in August 2005.

She was deputy recorder of Tipton from 1954 until July 1963, when she left to work for Farm Bureau Insurance as office manager until 1977. She joined American Family Insurance as a claims adjuster until she retired in November 1999.

She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and attended Ball State University and Indiana University Kokomo. She graduated from cosmetology school in Kokomo in 1974.

She was a member of Alpha Omicron sorority at Ball State, charter member of Rainbow Girls of Sharpsville, Republican Women’s Club, precinct committeeman of Madison Township for several years, and Tipton Historical Society.

She enjoyed traveling to Europe several times with her husband and enjoyed riding the motorcycle with Myron and friends.

She is survived by three sons, M. Bradley (Debbie) Bowlby, Brian Bowlby, and Bart (Connie) Bowlby; one granddaughter, Stacey Bowlby; stepgrandchildren, Patty Garner and companion Scott Ritchie, Jesse (Tricia) Isaac, Shannon Leopard; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jessica (Trent) Everling, Chris James, Tara McNew, Hannah Isaac, Ashlee Heard, Timmy Leopard, Sarah Isaac, Alex Leopard, and Emily Isaac; stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Charles Fowler, Jesiah Everline and Taylar Southard; and siblings, Dwaine (Margo) Underwood, Sharlot (Frank) Spaulding, Sharon Ogle and Norma Jean (Bill) Malone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, in August 2005, her parents and two brothers-in-law, Ed Turley and Jerry Ogle.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home, 314 N. Main St., Tipton, with the Rev. Harold Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
