Ocie T. Sears

June 17, 1916 - Dec. 1, 2012

Ocie T. Sears, 96, Sharpsville, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born June 17, 1916, in Scottsville, Ky., the daughter of James E. and Patsy (Moody) Oliver. On April 30, 1938, she married Wilmer J. Sears, who preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1987.

Ocie worked as a custodian at Northern Community Schools for more than 25 years.

She is survived by four children, W.D. (Joyce) Sears, Kokomo, Robert (Betty) Sears, Sharpsville, Joyce (Dan) Haalck, Carmel, and Margaret (Walt) Nixon, Kokomo; one sister, Rose Flowers, Scottsville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bee Nixon.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dollie and Oval; her parents; husband; daughter, Patsy; one granddaughter, Kathy; and one great-granddaughter, Sonya.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Boyer Funeral Home, 204 S. Church St., Sharpsville, with Rev. Paul Southerland officiating. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
