Ronald L. Devore, 75, rural Kirklin, passed away at 4:48 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at the St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis. He was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Kokomo, to parents Merritt E. and Gertrude Devore.
He married Judith Cassman on May 6, 1966, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2009.
Mr. Devore retired from the Union Carbide Co. in Indianapolis after 28 years of service. He was currently employed as a parts driver for Andy Mohr Nissan in Indianapolis. He had also previously served as the Kirklin town marshall.
A 1952 graduate of Rossville High School, he also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Woodside Christian Church where he taught Sunday School and a member of the Vesta Masonic Lodge 136 in Jefferson.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina (husband Max) Watson, Zionsville; one son, Martin (wife Connie) Devore, rural Frankfort; three brothers, James (wife Carolyn) Devore, Rossville, Gary (wife Shirley) Devore, Goshen, and Daniel J. Devore, Waugh; five sisters, Darleen (husband Dick) Dwigans, Kokomo, Loretta (husband Lawrence) Lambert, Frankfort, Grace (husband Alan) Beresford, Aldophus, Tenn., Diana Hill, Cutler, and Hope Pitman, Lebanon; and 10 granchildren.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Frankfort. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Masonic Services at 7:30. Burial with military rites will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Lafayette.
