Jan. 19, 1935 - Jan. 5, 2013

Marjorie Kathleen (Denman) Jeffers departed this earth at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, to join the Heavenly Host from St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born the daughter of James Paul Denman Sr. and Lettie Mae (Peele) Denman on Jan. 19, 1935, in Kokomo. On Dec. 21, 1952, she became the bride of William Thomas Jeffers Sr., who survives.

Marjorie graduated from Kokomo High School in 1953, Indiana Business College and Real Estate Schooling. She was secretary for Al Morgan and other executives at Union Carbide Corp., Kokomo, and was employed as a receptionist at St. Joseph Hospital in later years.

She loved writing poetry and belonged to the “Poetry Circle.” Some of her poetry had been published. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed camping, ice skating, parties for no reason, her sons’ activities, especially the trips to Florida for the Western High School Band performances at the Orange Bowl game, and anything and everything involving her children and grandchildren. She also belonged to the Euchre Club for 20 years, drove a special education bus for Bon Air School and worked for the Census Bureau.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Bill; their three loving sons, William Thomas Jeffers Jr., Michael (Melissa) Jeffers, Joseph (Mikki) Jeffers; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Brown, Brad (Sarah) Jeffers, Christina and Anthony Jeffers, and Jocelyn Jeffers; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Louise (Patt) Townsend; her brother, James Paul Denman Jr. (Shirley); her aunt, Marion Milner; brother-in-law, Gilmore Funk; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law; her sisters-in-law, Bertha (John) Stanley Sr., Agnes Funk; brother-in-law, Robert Jeffers; special brother-in-law, Fredrick Townsend; and nephew Brian K. Townsend.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with the Rev. Gregg Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery.
