Bonnie M. Walters, 85, late of Rochester and formerly of Akron and the Gilead area, died at 3:38 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Life Care Center of Rochester. Born April 13, 1927, in Miami County, she was the daughter of Andrew and Bessie (Hinsey) Funnell. She was married Oct. 2, 1943, in Peru, to Donald “Pete” Walters, who preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1988.
She is survived by two sons, Randall Walters, Kokomo, and Michael and wife Peggy Walters, Rochester; five grandchildren, Kelly and husband Dr. Cameron Vanlaningham, Troy and wife Becky Walters, Rhonda Walters, Regina Walters and Rodney Walters; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nina Opple, Rochester; and special friend, Rita Walters.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery, Gilead. Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
