Donald Gene Rood

Donald Gene Rood, 81, Kokomo, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at North Woods Commons. He was born in Howard County Oct. 8, 1931, to Thomas and Flossie (Goodnight) Rood.

He was a pipe fitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He served in the Army Reserve and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Scottish Rite.

Surviving are two children, Nick and Rhonda Rood, Eustis, Fla., and Mindy and Mike Sandefur, Sharpsville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Groves, Kokomo, and Rozella Hayes, Sharpsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Boyer Funeral Home, Sharpsville, with Pastor Lehman Hale officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boyer Funeral Home, Sharpsville.
