Mary Ann Long

Dec. 18, 1930 - Jan. 31, 2013

— Mary Ann (Hodson) Long, 82, Kokomo, passed to her heavenly home at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Fairmont Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Dec. 18, 1930, to the late Marble and Alta (Shepler) Hodson. On Sept. 17, 1950, in Hemlock, she married David Long, who survives.

Mary Ann graduated from Ball State with a master’s degree in education. She taught five years at Eastern Elementary, 23 years at Taylor Community Schools and eight years for Wycliffe Bible Translators in South America.

In addition to teaching, she was a member of Christian Life Fellowship and Gideon’s International Auxiliary. In her retirement years, instead of enjoying the “good life” and taking it easy, she and her husband spent seven years in Peru, South America, serving as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Surviving are her husband, David Long; children, Beth (Matt) Seawell, David (Cindy) Long Jr., and Rachel (Brent) Lewis; grandchildren, Cami Thomas, Cristina Boyer, Adam Long, Cheryl Miracle, Cara Tarrh, Brandon Lewis, Tyler Lewis and Roy Hufford; 11 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Bob Wise.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Winefred Wise.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Fellowship, 1009 Holiday Dr., Greentown, with Pastors Gary Hoover and Dr. Logan Sparling officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 6 p.m. Monday at the church.

Hasler & Stout Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
