Ruth E. Cottingham

Jan. 12, 1929 - Nov. 19, 2012

Ruth E. Cottingham, 83, died at 12:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in the emergency room at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. She was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Howard County, to Thomas E. and Bertha (Hopper) Henry. On Aug. 11, 1950, she married Wilbur L. Cottingham, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1998.  

She was a graduate of Ervin Township High School, and worked at Cuneo Press for 19 years before becoming a full-time homemaker. Ruth was a member of Brookside Free Methodist Church, and her hobbies included boating, fishing, traveling, spending time in Florida during the winter, and she loved the Concerts in the Parkduring the summer in Kokomo.  

She is survived by her children, Joyce Elaine (Tom) Nicholas, Valparaiso, and Roger Lee Cottingham, Rockwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Angie (Bob) Burns, Jeremy (Crystal) Nicholas, Dale (Aarika) Cottingham, Marla Cottingham, and Justin (Kelly) Cottingham; great-grandchildren, Gianna Burns, Jaxson Burns, Lexi Cottingham, and Landon Cottingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, George Henry and Margaret Reingisin.  

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Brookside Free Methodist Church, 190 E. 400 South, with the Rev. Doug Benham officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church today. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
