Shirley Mae (Ironmonger) Owens went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 2, 2012, after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 29, 1935, to Mabel and James Ironmonger in Kokomo, Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School and Apex Beauty School.

Shirley married Roger D. Owens in 1954 and resided the remainder of her life in Anderson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed painting, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

Survivors include daughter, Cheryl (Marvin) Lackey of New Bern, N.C.; sons, Ronald (Colleen) Owens of Anderson, Kenneth (Melinda) Owens of Daleville, and Jonathan (Kristen) Owens of Anderson; grandchildren, Melissa (Derek) McCarthy, Bryan Richardson, Ana Easterling, Eric Lee, Courtney Kidd, Chelsea Owens, Justin Owens and Mary Katherine Owens; and seven great-grandchildren. Additionally, Shirley is survived by her sisters, Judy (Bernie) Smith of Springville and Jane (Jim) Walker of Kokomo.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, daughter, Lisa Easterling, and brother, Norman Ironmonger.

The family would like to say a special thank you to St. John’s Hospice.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton. A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Mendon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278, or to the St. John’s Hospice, 2015 Jackson, Anderson, IN 46016.
