Bonnie Margaret Gill, 87, Denver, Colo., a former longtime Kokomo resident, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Denver. Born in Nortonville, Ky., on Aug. 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James Bradley Dunning and Lula Fletcher Dunning. On April 27, 1946, in Hopkinsville, Ky., she married Jesse Owen Gill, who preceded her in death on June 3, 1995.
The couple moved to Kokomo in 1947, and Bonnie lived in Kokomo until 2004. She worked at Globe, W.T. Grant’s and Maple Crest Middle School. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kokomo and the Kiwanis Golden K Club. She had also been a volunteer at Howard Community Regional Hospital.
Her passions were family, friends, pets, travel and shopping. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Friends were always welcome in her home, and she thoroughly enjoyed entertaining. Playing dominoes on Sunday evenings with her neighbors was a favorite pastime for many years.
Survivors include one son, Mark, Denver, Colo.; one grandson, Sean Perkins, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Glenda Perkins, whom she loved dearly; brother, Rex, and sister, Pauline.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Father Richard Lightsey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home on Friday.
