Melvin Victor “Vic” Ohlemacher 63, Kokomo, was welcomed to Heaven at 12:13 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1949, to Melvin W. and Phyllis (Davenport) Ohlemacher in Frankfort. On Feb. 14, 1981, Vic married Lynn Hoepner at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, and she survives.
Vic attended Northwestern High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1999 from Chrysler Kokomo Casting Plant after 28 years. He was a member of the UAW 1166. Vic was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, where he served as Saturday night usher for years. He was a Vice Chairman for the Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union for seven years. He enjoyed doing hog roasts for church activities and friends. Vic was a Little League Coach in Russiaville several years, and was an avid sprint car enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Ohlemacher, Kokomo; daughters, Amanda (Andy) Canady, Noblesville, and Andrea Hoepner, Charlotte, N.C.; sons, Jason (Sarah) Ohlemacher, Lebanon, Brian (Cynthia) Hoepner, West Hollywood, Calif., and Matthew (Melissa) Hoepner Hampstead, N.C.; sisters, Donna (Paul) Pratt, Kokomo, Gayle (Ron) Jones, Thomasville, N.C., and Anita Ryke, Kokomo; and grandchildren, Kayla Ohlemacher, Kirt Ohlemacher, Kory Ohlemacher, Kyra Ohlemacher, Jensen Pickett, Zackary Gurske, Nicholas Canady, Nolan Canady, Jackson Hoepner, Owen Hoepner and Wesley Hoepner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin W. and Phyllis Ohlemacher; and sisters Debra Reuter and Bonita Pearson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd. Kokomo, with Pastor William Allison and Pastor Barry Akers officiating the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. Burial will follow the funeral service in Sunset Memory Gardens, with Military Honors.
Memorial donations may be given to the church. Stout & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
