— Jan S. Sims, 60, late of Kokomo and formerly of Monon, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the North Woods Village. He was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Plymouth, to the late Grover and Marie Sims.

He was a 1971 graduate of Rensselaer High School, had lived and worked in Cannon City, Colo., for 25 years as a CNA and then moved back to Kokomo to spend more time with his family. Jan was a loving and devoted Christian who always wanted to help the less fortunate. He attended Kokomo Independent Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Inez Sims; siblings, Toni Sims and Sherry Cool.

Surviving are a daughter, Jessica Dispennett, Lafayette; siblings, Jay (Carla) Sims, Kokomo, Jerry Walter, Florida; and four grandchildren, Kylee, Alex, Emme and Ty Dispennett.

A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. (EST) Thursday at Frazier Funeral Home, 507 N. Market St., Monon. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. (CST) Friday at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.
