Alice Eldona Rose

Oct. 1, 1914 - March 3, 2013

Alice Eldona Rose, 98, Amboy, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Amboy to the late Pliny H. and Ada (Larrison) Freeman. On Feb. 17, 1935, in South Bend she married John M. Rose; he preceded her in death March 12, 2004.

She was a life-long resident of Amboy. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1932. Alice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Animal Kindness of Miami County. Her hobbies included playing the accordion, which she had been playing since October of 1935. She also enjoyed sewing and riding her bicycle.    

Surviving are four nephews, Jack and Lois Miller, Amboy, Steve Miller and companion Brenda Bambrough, Kokomo, Dan Miller, Peru, Darwin and Martha Freeman, Greentown; and three nieces, Deanna and Wade Howard, Alexandria, Glenda Ray, Novi, Mich., Joyce Jolliff, Carbondale, Ill.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Von V. Freeman; and two sisters, Opal M. Hurley, Ruth I. Miller; and a brother-in-law, Warren E. Miller.  

Funeral services will be at noon Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with the Rev. Rex Kling officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the mortuary.  

Memorial contributions may be directed to Miami County Humane Society, with envelopes provided at the mortuary. Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., is in charge of arrangements.
