Roger E. VanMeter

Sept. 18, 1940 - Dec. 17, 2012

Roger E. VanMeter, 72, died at 1:57 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Peru, to Clifford and Helen (Peele) VanMeter. On Sept. 16, 1978, Roger married Donna J. McFadden, and she survives.

Roger was a 1960 Northwestern High School graduate. He was a member of Naphtali Masonic Lodge No. 398, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, member of the Kokomo Shrine Club, York Rite of Indiana, IBN Saud, Center Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star 108, Elks Lodge No. 190, and member of Kokomo Knights Templar.

Roger loved doing yard work, camping, fishing and enjoying his grandchildren. He retired in 1993 from Miller Beverage as a driver and also worked at Kroger grocery store.

Survivors include his wife, Donna VanMeter; daughters, Patricia McFadden Harrison, Kokomo, Mary (Scott) McFadden Clary, Kokomo, Darien VanMeter, Indianapolis; son, Timothy VanMeter of Kokomo; grandchildren Jason (Melissa) McFadden, Christopher Clary, Amie McFadden, Hollyann (Shawn) Hood, Andrew VanMeter, Parker VanMeter; great-grandchildren Chloe Barker, Kira Hood, Delilah Canady, Oliver Rutherford; brother, Stephen (Carolyn) VanMeter, Kokomo; sister, Mary (Jim) French, Kokomo; sisters in-law, Sandy Klinehoffer, Ohio, Rita Hayes, Ohio; and his dog, Dakota.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Steve Cole officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and a Masonic service will start at 7:45 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.stoutandson.com. Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, has been entrusted with the funeral services.
