— Day at the fair a success

“A big thank you to the Greentown Lions Club for sponsoring our annual Mental Health’s Social Club Day at the fair. Approximately 160 consumers enjoyed lunch and rides on a very sunny and hot day.
“We are also grateful to Jay Freeman and his crew of cooks and helpers, including the Howard County 4-H Fair Queen and her court. What a great group of young ladies.
“A big help were our volunteers (26), which were Center Road Church of Christ Youth Service group directed by Rusty Maynard, MHA’s staff and regular volunteers.
“We appreciate you and so does our clients.”

Dad’s legacy lives on

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the Matt Thompson Memorial Ride that was held on July 11. I realize in these tough economic times that everyone has tightened their belts.
“However, our community had proved once again how generous they truly are. I can’t thank enough the businesses and citizens that made monetary donations and supplied great door prizes.
“The generosity of Thom Shuck opening this home and organizing another great ride can never be repaid. The hospitality of the businesses where the stops were held was amazing also. I can’t begin to name all the people who gave up their Sunday to help us. I just hope they know how much we appreciate them and how much they mean to us.
“It’s encouraging to know the legacy of my dad lives on, and I take comfort that he’s protecting us still. Thanks again.”
