Snow removal appreciated
Murray McKay of Kokomo sends this Cheer:
“I would like to thank the person who plowed the snow from the walkway along West Lincoln Road.
“My dog and I have walked this path every day for the past several months.
“Because of the deep snow, we were forced to walk down Gleneagle Drive and back.
“It’s so nice to have this path cleared, so whomever the person or persons are who did this, it is greatly appreciated. God bless you.”
Businessmen look out for others
Barbara Jones sends this Cheer for two downtown merchants:
“I would like to send a Cheer to Dave Granson of Engel Jewelers and John Rosborough of Sound of Music.
“I want to thank these gentlemen for a fine job of being out early and keeping their sidewalks free of ice and snow. Not only do they treat the walks in front of their stores, but they also make sure the walks are safe on either side. This may seem like a small gesture to some, but I’m sure I am not the only downtown employee who appreciates it.”
Children enjoy Parks’ program
Kimberly Maynard, a kindergarten teacher at Northwestern Elementary, sends this Cheer:
“The Kokomo Parks Department does a fantastic job putting on the Gingerbread Program. Monica Reed and the staff are terrific, and the kindergarten children love the trip! A definite thumbs-up!”
Highway Department is responsive
Janice Zell sends this Cheer on behalf of Western School Corp.:
“Western School Corp. Transportation’s office would like to send a big Cheer to Ted Cain and his staff at the Howard County Highway Department for the excellent job that they do. Whether it is snow, ice, limb removal, or gravel, he and his staff are always helpful, professional and courteous. Their timely response demonstrates their commitment to our community and its needs.
“Western Schools appreciate all of their efforts, and we are so grateful for all they do!”
A thank-you for kindness
Frieda Wenger sends this Cheer on behalf of her family:
“The Joseph W. Wenger family would like to thank the fire department, active and retired, for the great honor they paid to Joe. Also, we would like to thank the veterans for their honor service. Thank you to all the wonderful doctors and medical staff who have cared for him in the past and present.
“Even though Jill and her hospice group were only there for his last day, they made things so much easier for the family. They are angels, and we thank them!
“Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel: Thank you for the kind and wonderful service you gave to the family. Also special thanks to Father Dan and Father Kilcline.
“Our sincere gratitude to everyone for the flowers, food, donations to the Diabetes Association or Dr. Schwartz Memorial Fund, and condolences sent to the family.”
Students show leadership
County councilman Paul Wyman sends this Cheer:
“I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘great job’ to the students of the Howard County Youth Leadership Summit program.
“Just before the holidays, these students undertook a canned food drive and collected 2,000 cans of food. These cans were delivered to the Rescue Mission so that people less fortunate may have some food during these cold winter months.
“Congratulations to these students representing Kokomo, Western, Northwestern, Eastern and Taylor high schools. Helping others in times of need is a great example of your leadership skills.”
