Man arrested for child molestation

State police arrested a 60-year-old Miami County man Friday on a charge of molesting a 6-year-old girl.

James Black, 60, Amboy, was arrested on a Class A felony charge of child molestation.

Police started an investigation after receiving information from the Miami County Division of the Indiana Department of Child Services that a six-year-old Miami County girl had possibly been molested.

The investigation revealed Black had allegedly sexually molested the six-year-old girl at a Miami County home in late December.

Black is currently incarcerated at the Miami County Jail with $50,000 bond.

Arrests

Saturday, 2:46 p.m., police arrested Israel Chavez, 19, 1300 block of East Murden Street, at the same address on a failure to appear warrant.

Saturday, 5:29 p.m., police arrested Christopher S. Obannon, 44, 2600 block of North Washington Street, at Bell and Spraker streets on a body attachment warrant.

Saturday, 6:14 p.m., police arrested Zachary A. Herschberger, 22, 41000 block of Gunter Road, Peru, at Menard’s, 1715 E. Havens St., on charges of theft, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Saturday, 7:23 p.m., police arrested James J. Colbert, 31, 600 block of South Union Street, at the same address on charges of possession of marijuana, dealing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, false informing, maintaining a common nuisance and a warrant for petition to revoke.
