Pace leads Flipsters at state meet

CONNERSVILLE — The Kokomo Flipsters picked up one individual state champion while placing 10th in a 44-team field in the Level 8 State Championships here over the weekend.

The Flipsters’ state champion was 15-year-old Rachel Pace, who took first on vault (9.575). She was also second on bars (9.250).

Madison Baldini competed in the 14-year-old division, taking fifth on bars (8.575) and floor (9.10) and sixth on vault (9.225) and beam (8.55). She was second overall at (35.45).

Morgan Burke competed well in the 12-year-old group. She was second on vault (9.40), fourth on bars (9.20) and beam (9.00) and third in all-around (36.55).

Chantel Laudenschlager competed in the 16s division. She took third in beam (8.975) and floor (9.10), was seventh on vault (7.00) and sixth in all-around (34.90).

All four girls qualified for regionals to be held April 27-29 in Indianapolis. To qualify for regionals, gymnasts must score at 34.50 or better in all-around at the state meet. The regionals consist of top gymnasts from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky.
