Paroled dismemberment killer says he's not threat

Indianapolis — A man newly released from prison for a conviction of killing and dismembering a woman in 1986 says the public opposition that has forced him to move from two southern Indiana counties isn't warranted.

Fifty-seven-year-old Robert Evan Lee has moved to a motel in an industrial area on the south side of Indianapolis. Lee left Jennings County on Oct. 1, nine days after he moved there when two locations in Bloomington wouldn't accept him.

Lee tells The Indianapolis Star that parole officers know his every move since he must wear an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet.

Lee was released from prison Sept. 22 after serving 25 years for the slaying of 31-year-old Ellen Marks of Bloomington, whose head and hands were never found.
