Ind. seeks volunteers for state park trail program

Indianapolis — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources wants 38 volunteers to work on trails this summer at four state parks for the Indiana Heritage Corps program.

It says volunteers will receive on-site housing at a state park, a living allowance of $340 per month, an education stipend of more than $1,400, and a chance to earn college internship credit.

The participating state parks are Pokagon, Fort Harrison, Brown County and O'Bannon Woods. The DNR says volunteers will clean, restore, and construct 25 miles of trails in the four parks.

Candidates should be at least 17, U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, pass an FBI background check, and make a 3½-month commitment beginning May 13.

They should email a resume and cover letter to indianaheritagecorps@dnr.IN.gov. More information is available at http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/7252.htm .
