S. Ind. mobile home fire kills 5 people

Sulphur — A southern Indiana sheriff says an overnight mobile home fire believed started by a wood stove has killed five people in a small Ohio River town.

The Crawford County Sheriff Tim Wilkerson tells WDRB-TV three adults and two children died in the fire early Thursday near the Crawford County town of Sulphur about 30 miles west of Louisville, Ky.

Wilkerson says two half-brothers and a girlfriend of one of the men died along with the 8-year-old daughter of one of the brothers and the woman's 3-year-old son.

Wilkerson tells WDRB-TV he broke the news to about 10 of the victims' relatives by gathering them in a circle with a chaplain.

Fire officials believe the fire began in a wood stove used to heat the mobile home.
