Monticello — A northern Indiana man charged in the fatal stabbings of his mother and half-sister is seeking a psychiatric examination to determine if he's competent to stand trial.
A White Superior Court judge did not immediately rule Wednesday after hearing 20-year-old David Rodenbarger's request for the exam.
The Monticello man was charged Monday with two counts of murder for the deaths of 41-year-old Michelle J. "Shelly" Haskins and 6-year-old Jillian E. "Jilly" Haskins.
The Journal & Courier reports Rodenbarger is accused of fatally stabbing his mother and half-sister last week using a two-pronged meat fork and knife at the family's home near Lake Freeman.
He's being held without bond in the White County Jail.
