Indianapolis — Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson is telling voters to disregard letters claiming they are being included in a "voting record audit."
Lawson said Tuesday her office had received complaints that a group called Americans for Limited Government was sending letters to voters listing their voting history and their neighbors' voting history.
She says the state "does not treat lightly" its job protecting voting records and that no audit is being conducted. She says anyone receiving the letter should disregard it.
State law restricts access to voting records to state political parties and legislative caucuses. Voter participation records can still be accessed through county offices.
